Princeton Eye Group doctors volunteer in Belize

In late January, Drs. Michael Wong, Suzanne Jadico and Sarah Kuchar, along with our nurse extraordinaire, Annice Bacsik, traveled to Belize City to perform MSICS (manual small-incision extracapsular cataract surgery) for needy patients. Due to the pandemic, some of these patients had waited for years for their surgery.  Our three surgeons performed 48 sight-restoring cataract surgeries, and several urgent sight-saving glaucoma surgeries during their time.

The medical mission was organized through SEE International, a worldwide non-profit organization dedicated to providing much needed eye surgery to needy patients around the world.

The local eye clinic we served was the BCVI (Belize Council for the Visually Impaired).  Surgical equipment and medical supplies were generously donated by Alcon, SEE, and our very own Surgical Center of Central New Jersey.  Congratulations to our doctors for their life-changing missionary work!  They feel humbled and blessed to be able to contribute in this way.
