Michele D. Solarte, MD
   

Born and raised in the Philadelphia area, Dr. Solarte received her undergraduate degree in Biology and Medical Anthropology from Washington University in St. Louis, where she graduated magna cum laude. She then returned to Philadelphia to attend medical school at Jefferson Medical College. At Jefferson, she was inducted into the Hobart Amory Hare Medical Honors Society. She went on to complete her transitional year internship at Crozer Chester Medical Center, followed by her ophthalmology residency at the prestigious Wills Eye Hospital.

Dr. Solarte is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. She has contributed to the medical literature with multiple research publications and has presented her work at national conferences.

Dr. Solarte is dedicated to public health on a global scale. In college, she founded a local chapter of a global health organization that continues to thrive today. She has participated in medical mission trips to various countries such as Costa Rica, Ecuador, Ghana, and most recently Belize, where she performed vision-restoring manual small incision cataract surgery for patients suffering from blindness from advanced cataracts.

In her spare time, Dr. Solarte enjoys painting, hiking, skiing, traveling, and is a devout Philadelphia sports fan.
