The Kibuye Hope Project is a teaching hospital in Burundi, Africa, one of the poorest and most densely populated countries in the world. The hospital provides free treatment and surgeries to the people of this central African country, providing the gift of sight with a 15 minute cataract procedure. The hospital also fights to reduce the effects of retinoblastoma, a form of pediatric eye cancer. In the US the mortality rate is less than 5%, however in Africa it is great than 70%.
